I cannot preview or export

Use these checks if you cannot preview or export your film.

I cannot find the preview

The film plays from the timeline, not from the canvas. Open the Video Editor tab at the top of the canvas; see Timeline basics. Move the playhead to the start and press Space or the play button.

The timeline is empty

Generated clips do not appear on the timeline automatically. Drag the clips you need onto a track. See Add and reorder clips.

The tools are greyed out

If captions are being generated, wait for the job to finish. Timeline tools are unavailable during that process.

The picture is black at the playhead

Check whether the playhead is over a gap. Move it onto a clip, or drag the next clip left to close the gap.

Export does nothing, or fails

  • Check the timeline has at least one clip.
  • Wait for any running generation or caption job to finish.
  • Open the export dialog again and read the message if it shows one.
  • If it fails twice with the same message, contact support with the message and the project name.

The exported file is not what I saw

  • Wrong framing: the export uses the timeline's aspect ratio. Check the Timeline aspect ratio control and review the framing before exporting.
  • Missing sound: check clip volume and mute on the timeline, then export again.
  • A watermark: whether it can be turned off depends on your plan.
