Wan 3.0 vs Seedance 2.5: Which AI Video Model to Use in 2026

Wan 3.0 (Alibaba) and Seedance 2.5 (ByteDance) are the two video models on Flick that run to 30 seconds with sound in one generation. We took three shots from one of our own short films, a snowbound cabin thriller made on a Flick canvas, and ran each through both models from the same start frame, with the same prompt, length and resolution, in the image-to-video node.

The short version: both followed simple shots and spoke their lines word for word, but on camera language Seedance 2.5 read the prompt as direction and Wan 3.0 read it literally. Wan costs a quarter as much. Premium video models are available on Standard and above, and both of these are among them.

Quick answer: Wan 3.0 or Seedance 2.5?

Connect a start frame to a video node, then:

  1. Use Wan 3.0 for cheap takes of simple shots. 60 credits for 5 seconds at 720p, against 240 on Seedance 2.5.
  2. Use Seedance 2.5 when the prompt carries camera direction. It turned "the handheld camera whips back" into a whip pan; Wan added a cameraman.
  3. Write camera moves as moves. "Whip pan to the woman" is safer than "the camera whips" on Wan.

Run one shot on two models

Same frame, same prompt: keep the take that cuts in.

The setup

Three shots from the film, each with an existing Seedance 2.5 take. We used Regenerate on each Seedance clip and switched the model to Wan 3.0, which keeps the start frame, the prompt, the length and the resolution. All runs at 720p.

Test 1: crows scatter at a gunshot, 5 seconds

An overhead night shot of a snowbound cabin with crows on the roof. The prompt, in Chinese, reads: "The crows hear a gunshot and scatter. Fixed camera."

Seedance 2.5: an overhead night view of a snow-covered cabin with a lit window; the crows on the roof take off and scatter out of frame while the camera stays fixed
Wan 3.0: the same overhead cabin shot; a puff of white bursts by the roof and the crows scatter across the snow, camera fixed
Frames at 0.3, 2 and 3.5 seconds from each clip: both keep the overhead framing fixed while the crows lift off and scatter; Wan 3.0 adds a white puff by the roof and keeps more birds in frame
Frames at 0.3, 2 and 3.5 seconds from each clip: both keep the overhead framing fixed while the crows lift off and scatter; Wan 3.0 adds a white puff by the roof and keeps more birds in frame

A tie. Both held the camera still and sent the crows off the roof on cue. Wan added a white puff at the roof, a nice touch for a gunshot, and kept more birds in the air for longer.

Test 2: a scream and a push into the mouth, 4 seconds

A close-up of a frightened woman with a bruised eye, a pistol held to her head out of frame. The prompt: "The woman screams hysterically: 'Do it!' When she says 'it!', the camera quickly zoom pans into her mouth until the screen is dark."

Seedance 2.5: the bruised woman with a pistol at her head grimaces, then screams "Do it!" as the camera rushes into her open mouth
Wan 3.0: the same close-up; the woman's fear builds, she screams "Do it!" and the camera pushes into her open mouth
Frames at 0.3, 2.5, 3.4 and 3.95 seconds: both models move from the frightened face to the scream and end inside the open mouth
Frames at 0.3, 2.5, 3.4 and 3.95 seconds: both models move from the frightened face to the scream and end inside the open mouth

Both nailed it. A speech-to-text pass returned "Do it!" from each, and both crashed the camera into her mouth in the last half second. Seedance got to the anger sooner, a bared-teeth grimace in the first second; Wan built the fear more slowly.

Test 3: a line of dialogue and a whip pan, 15 seconds

Two start frames: a man silhouetted in the cabin doorway, and the woman with the pistol at her head. The prompt: "The man says, 'You know I don't want to do this.' Then the handheld camera whips left back to the woman."

Seedance 2.5: the man stands in the snowy doorway, speaks in the dark cabin, and the camera whip-pans to the woman with the pistol at her head
Wan 3.0: the man in the doorway, then a cut to a different man in a beanie filming with a video camera and light, then the woman with the pistol at her head
Frames at matching moments: Seedance 2.5 stays on the speaking man and whip-pans to the woman at about 10 seconds; Wan 3.0 cuts at 4.5 seconds to an invented man holding a video camera before reaching the woman
Frames at matching moments: Seedance 2.5 stays on the speaking man and whip-pans to the woman at about 10 seconds; Wan 3.0 cuts at 4.5 seconds to an invented man holding a video camera before reaching the woman

Both spoke the line word for word and both ended on the woman. The difference is how they read "the handheld camera whips". Seedance 2.5 treated it as camera direction: it stayed on the man as he spoke, then whip-panned, with motion blur at about 10 seconds, to her. Wan 3.0 treated it as something in the scene: at 4.5 seconds it cut to a new character, a man in a beanie operating a video camera with a light on top, then cut to the window and on to the woman. That character is not in either start frame or in the film.

Credits are today's Flick rates at 720p; at 1080p Wan doubles and Seedance multiplies by 2.25. Wan's mixes ran louder on two of the three shots, by up to 8 dB; level them before cutting the models together. Seedance 2.5 also has a cheaper Draft Mode at 480p. Rates for every model are on model credit costs.

Prompting tips for both

  • Write camera moves as moves. "Whip pan left to the woman" leaves less to interpret than "the camera whips".
  • Keep "camera" out of the action when you mean the lens. Wan turned a camera in the prompt into a person holding one.
  • Put dialogue in quotes. Both models spoke our quoted lines word for word.
  • Use two frames for a shot that moves between subjects. Both ended on our second frame.
  • If motion goes somewhere you did not ask for, see motion not what I asked.
